Giving God control, and resting in His PEACE!

Have you ever given something over to God, and then wondered why He wasn't taking care of it? Ever feel like you need to do something, Anything really, to make something happen? How many of us need to be in control of EVERY aspect of our lives? I know that I am so guilty of this! I pray that God will take care of something, and I lay it at his feet, but then I worry about that same issue. I fret about "what can I do to help this situation" I do CRAZY things when I feel like nothing is working out the way I want it to...then I obsess over how I can fix it, what I can do to make things better, and then I cry out to God asking him why He hasn't "fixed" my problem. Then I am gently reminded that I never left it with Him....I placed it at his feet, but before I turned to go, I picked it back up! How awesome is it that He GENTLY reminds of us this....its not a SMACK to the head, although sometimes I am sure that is just what I need! He Loves us so muc...

When you feel like a failure, remember WHO made you!

let's get real for a moment.... How many moms out there feel like you are a failure? Like everything you have done, was wrong? Sigh...that was me today!  I forgot to swap the laundry....yesterday....so the house stunk this morning...AGAIN . Today, in my frustration, I raised my voice to my family....and I HATED it. Today, I didn't do meal prep...and so my hubby got out in the cold to pick up a dinner I should have made. (He did this without complaint, I might add, I truly am blessed) Today, I let past fears seep into my daily activity, and based some of my decisions off of that past fear. Today, I forgot to eat (seriously, who does this), and my sugar dropped so fast, I almost passed out! Today, I felt like a failure....  But today, I also felt Gods peace...I love how it can feel like a blanket dropping over my shoulders, there is no better feeling then resting in His perfect peace! Today, I remembered His GRACE...it is never ending! Today, I was giv...

Light-bulb

Ever have an Ah-ha moment? You know what I'm talking about... .the moment a light bulb goes off in your head  and you can see the situation clearly. Those moments are AWESOME! It is like God has just opened your eyes and everything comes in so clearly, and you know exzactly what you are supposed to be doing! I wish I could say I have a lot of these light bulb moments.....however I think God has to use a different type of technique on my type of brain. I personally think He must get tired of hitting me upside the head while saying "When will she EVER learn", or "seriously Shanna, this is the 3rd time we have had to go over this lesson" I am unfortunately, a slow learner...and while I am learning from my mistakes, I sometimes have to learn from them over and over again..sigh, why is it so hard for me to learn? It is something I am working on...I wish I could just jump to the test in some lessons, but that's not how God designed them. I have to wa...

Friday the 13th

It is Friday the 13th.....can you believe that! Even just saying Friday the 13th brings back memories from when I was younger. Hanging out with my sisters and whenever Friday would fall on the 13th, we would want to do something spooky! I'm sure we are not the only ones who did crazy stuff like that? The moment we found out that Friday was on the 13th, we would start planning....I remember asking mom  if we could have a sleepover, and invite a bunch of friends to have a "fright night", and we would plan everything from games, food, and even the music we wanted to play. We had SO much fun planning those sleep overs, and my mom never limited us to how many we could invite over, so most sleep overs had between 10-12 girls :) we always had fun. Now to give a little back ground story....My parents were pretty strict on what they allowed into the house. we were NOT allowed to watch scary movies, or listen to certain styles of music. Which I am so thankful for now, because ...

Just a Quick Post

Hi everyone, it has been crazy hectic around our home with the holidays, as I am sure it has been for you all as well!! Can you believe that it is already 2017!! What happened to last year, it went by so quickly!  This year is already looking up, as God has shown his blessings to our family already. It amazes me that the God who created the heavens and the earth, looks at our small (to us it is huge) problems, and takes care of them for us. Not only does he take care of them, He goes above and beyond what we need. The blessing He gave our family, will not only be seen this week...but in the weeks and months to come. He is Good!!! 2016 was a year of ups and downs for my family. My mom passed away in January. We walked through a battle, that I never thought we would have to walk through. We had moments of fear and anxiety. We were sick (a LOT). We were faced with some hard decisions, and then we had to deal with the consequences of our decisions. To say it was a hard year, would ...

It's Time :)

Black Friday has come and gone, and I have yet to put our Christmas tree up.It is sitting in the garage just waiting for me to send my hubby out side to drag it in. If it could think, it would probable be wondering why I have been taking so long.  I am wondering the same thing. Of course my artificial Christmas tree can't think....it has no feelings,  and it doesn't care that the day we usually set aside to put the tree up, has come and gone...its just a tree. Me on the other hand, I do have feelings, and I do wonder why it has taken me this long to even want to get the tree out, let alone decorate for the holiday. Lets be honest here, I still have my pumpkins on my front porch....I really do need to put them away! I kept telling myself that I would put the tree up, on Black Friday, like we always do. Even though this year my Beautiful Mothers birthday fell on Black Friday. I was still going to put the tree up. I was going to have a great day, listening to Christma...

Honesty and Hotdogs

"It's hotdogs" Those were the words the teenager kept saying to my mom. let me rewind just a bit. I was eight years old, and after a long shopping trip, my mother and I were loading up the car, when she picked up her purse and noticed that a bag of hotdogs has slipped under it. Some people would have just tossed them in with the other grocery's, but not my mom. We finished loading the car, and then we walked back to the store and stood in line at customer service. My mom waited patiently as we moved closer and closer to the front of the line. I on the other hand, fidgeted, twirled, whined....you know everything a eight year old who is tired and just wants to go home would do. when we finally reached the front of the line, my mom handed the hotdogs to the teenager and after explaining that she had forgotten to pay for them, reached for her wallet, only to find him looking at her like she was crazy! "It's hotdogs" "Yes" she replied...
